Bad Spelling on purpose!

Birthday pic done for a friend. I was so glad to finally try out my new Copic Ciao - and it was fun, up to the point I get dizzy and start seeing sparks of lights in front of my eyes. I blame it on the marker fumes.

Sketch dump...again!

Hmm..photobucket is really... REALLY acting up now so I can't upload pictures to my LJ. This is frustrating. Here's some random doodles from work and elsewhere.

Wonky legs!

Girl with bad folds and wonky fingers ugh

Tried to draw Judy Nails... though her guitar's not drawn in yet. The weird devil thingy is a cool action figure that my colleague had - sort of bogarted it over to my desk hehe

I tried to draw a cat...which turned out ugly, turned it into a dinky whatever goes monster instead.

My housemate recently got some emulator to play PSX games with and ye gads, it's evil - she shared it with me! All those classic RPGs that you'd readily spend hours of your life on, Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, all the FFs, Vagrant Story etc...and those that you shamelessly cried over ...Final freaking Fantasy VII...and damned silly fun games like Parappa the Rapper..It's evil! EVIL I tell you! I'm never gonna parted from my PC!!

Michel Gagne!

...is just too cool. This is my weak attempt at depicting him during a conference session at CG Overdrive '07 in Singapore. It was what he said when the Quicktime files he was playing had no sound. This guy is pure genius. He's an effects animator, does everything handrawn and has done works for Iron Giant and Pixar's soon to be released animation, Rattatouille.

Contrary to what I wrote (if you can read my horrendous handwriting) he didn't design Animo, but tested it out for its animating capabilities. Check out his awesome body of works here: http://www.gagneint.com/

A WIP of Aeris (FFVII). Done to test out a different colouring style.
Am going to Singapore this Friday yay for PLAY! Symphony Orchestra! So looking forward to orchestral rendition of the Chrono series.

Monkey!

Drawn during an outstation event. No reference whatsoever so the big monkey might be a cross of an orang utan and goodness know what else XD

Somewhat Unseen University

No this is NOT Hogswart! Just bought a new brushpen the other day and what better to try it out than an attempt of drawing the Unseen University of Ankh Morpork? Not referenced (save for a faint memory of the building from Hogfather TV Movie) so there's plenty of discrepancies afoot. Colouring it was fun though!

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time

..is a gorgeous animation that managed to be good, great and sublime, and all in that order. It has to be watched to be believed.

The Grim Squeaker

Possibly the cutest character in the Discworld, and then Hex and his pink teddy bear comes second. No..sometimes Death himself can be so damned cute too you want to noogie his bony head. I love Terry Prachett's Discworld. This is so far the longest obsession I have had with anything - I counted back the years when I first started collecting his books ...it was about 8 years ago. 8 years! Mr Terry Prachett sir, may you continue to write more brilliant stories that strikes a chord in my heart and soul like no other, and may any screen adaptations of your book be tasteful and masterfully done.

Strictly speaking, this is not part of the job description

Bought these pens today at lunch time and they are awesome! One end's a magic marker, and the other is a finer tip that's really awesome for sketching. Best of all - the blue one is photoblue - won't show up when you photostate or scan your sketch in black and white!

Ended up playing around with the pen (I really love the blue one) almost all afternoon (bought a new sketchbook too)... and went on to splodge the sketches with some cheap markers I got some time ago (and some more from Aimo's hoard of Copics)

Some unreferenced doodles of Aeris and Harle (of Chrono Cross) but I think I got her costume wrong

Doodles of the Folie a Deux girls, a silly story a bunch of friends and I made up way back in uni.

Ye gads markers are evil. I can't stop playing with them even when I get dizzy from inhaling all the aceton.

Last but not least, Hogfather TV Movie is LOVE.

Some Doodles

...from work. It was a terribly sleepy day - my colleague caught me nodding off in my chair several times!

Apple fritters are awesome!

Office Sketch!!

It's been quite a while! My dear collegue Sandra had started life drawing sessions at work, and hopefully it'll be a routine because I want to be better at drawing, also I've never actually done any real life drawing practices (Bad! I know yes, BAD!! But not too late to start, I hope!) The above is the first one I did on Monday (actually there's an earlier one last month but that one sucks real bad plus I can't find the drawing anyways) and well, it didn't look like our (reluctant) model at all (who happens to be our concept artist haha!)

The 2nd drawing is of our videographer (posing all fancy with lollipop in his mouth XD) I think this turns out slightly better except that his fingers are all wonky.

Then today at lunch with colleagues I did this. That's a bunch of us at the table, and my fish head with rice noodle took so long to prepare I imagined that they actually had to catch the fish first, milk the cow, grow the vege, wait for vegetable to pickle...oooh, I don't know.

After lunch we had a life drawing session, and that's Sandra there posing all cool and sexy-like (yes we take turn to pose XD so everyone gets it)

And a classic Aimo pose. She said I made her bum look big hahahaha.

There's another one of Mel but it looked so damned bad I'm embarassed. Sorry Mel!!! I'll do a better picture next time. So I'll put up this pic of girls in 70s garb instead, platforms and bell bottoms.

W.I.P

Yet to be finished illos of a dancer. The initial lineart can be seen over on the Onion-y Livejournal!(just scroll down a few posts) I wanted her to be redhead and thought a an aqua blue/green would contrast with her hair so beautifully, and when I finished up the dress, something is disturbingly familiar but I can't put a finger to it.

Then it hits me. This is what Ariel of the Little Mermaid would look like if that green fish body of hers is a green dress instead of a..a fish body!

So here it is, a somewhat accidental fanart of Ariel (or maybe not, since her bangs and face isn't the same AT ALL) or maybe I should just change the colour of her hair and dress. (But I love that sea-green shade!!! AGH)

Those office sketches

These are old but still essentially office sketches in the sense that they're probably done

1. During a meeting
2. During one of those dreary moments you can't seem to concentrate on your work anymore
3. When you have a brain diarrhea

The smaller lady has such a horrible skewed face..I just saw that now. Ugh.

Ok!

Finished this while watching episodes of Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends on DVD. Background is not complete...I'm not sure what to put, except maybe draw other characters with 'normal' pets looking at them. If I'm not too lazy that is. GAH. I haven't drawn a full background in... wait a min, I don't think I've ever drawn a full background EVER!

Hm. Hungry. Just ate fries, now I feel like some sausages!

WIP...

...which will probably stay that way because I've decided not to finish it. Half through I thought the painterly style doesn't really suit the drawing. Will probably rework it cell style or something.
Done in Photoshop.

The nicest thing about weekends is having the luxury of just lolling around and not do anything. The not so nice aspect? Having to always think what to have for lunch. Or dinner.

More office sketch!

Yeap more office sketch. It's when my mind wanders when I work (which often happens) all these silly doodles started appearing. Anyhoo, this girl has more than two arms, yes. I couldn't decide which pose is better.

This is a ...uh..a crazy witch.
'Nuff said.

A colleague brought Chrono Cross character guide book, and I was reminded how awesome the game was. Still is. Too bad I can't draw as awesomely as Nobuteru Yuuki. Harle there has so many limbs (yes, I was indecisive about the pose) that she looks like the Goddess Kali instead.

Kid has missing feet because I failed to draw within the paper itself! AGH
